>Your Umbrella: Never Leave Home Without It!

>

So British weather is infamous for being  unpredictable.  One moment its bright, sunny and summery.  The next, its chilly, overcast and rainy.  This is especially true during the summer, where the blindingly bright suns rays will pierce through your bedroom curtains at 6 AM only for things to dissolve into an overcast rainy mess after you arrive at work.  To avoid getting unexpectedly drenched, always carry an umbrella or “brolly” as the Brits say.

Now the questions is, how much should one invest in an umbrella?  As you’ll need to use it more the majority of the year, it makes sense to invest in a good one.  One that won’t become immediately inverted once a gust of wind comes.  And preferably one that covers enough of the area around you and can be fitted into a tote.  Luckily you can find these at pretty much any store.  Boots has quite a few in various colours, designs and sizes.  They also come in differing prices ranging from £10 to £15.  Since I always lose my umbrellas, I tend to buy the cheaper ones as there is nothing worse than investing £15 on an umbrella only to lose it in less than 10 days.  But if you’re more responsible then me, your brolly should last for quite some time.  Or at least until it gets attacked by several strong gusts of wind.

No, Aunt Flo is not in town. Sorry but I still hate that name! Marketing FAIL! But I digress..

Today the Pad went on sale and as predicted, people went crazy!  The queues were intense with some people waiting in line since 6 PM the night before When the doors finally opened, blood was acutally spilled!  The technorati were so desperate to be the first in Britain (save for those Brits that bought theirs from the States) that one eager Apple worshipper fell while trying to pick up a device and cut his face on a table.  No word yet, on whether the permanent scar that he is sure to sustain is worth it.

>Eurovision 2010 is Here!

>

Its that time of year again when every European country starts to put together their cheesy craptastic pop entry for Eurovision. But what exactly is Eurovision?

Eurovision is an annual singing competition that takes place amongst members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Each country submits an act that will perform live. Each country then votes on the most popular song. In short, it’s like a European version of American Idol which each contestant representing a different nation. As America is not part of the EBU, we’ve never heard of the Eurovision contest. But it’s been going on for over 50 years.

Now as this is popularity contest, the performances tend to all be over the to and everyone tries to stick to a safe song that everyone has heard of – in short, they stick to cheesy pop songs. Last year’s contest was memorable in that Dita Von Tesse performed with Germany’s entry to the song Miss Kiss Kiss Bang.

This year’s contest takes place in Norway. We are already in the semi-finals with the winner to be crowned on 29 March. Although it won’t have the glamour of a noted burlesque performer, it’ll sure to be full of fun entries like the one below.
